V-Cube: Innovative Puzzle Cube Packaging

A Unique and Distinct Design by Matadog Design

V-Cube packaging elevates the puzzle cube experience with its patented shape and premium materials.

Matadog Design, a renowned design agency, has created a groundbreaking packaging design for V-Cube, a series of worldwide patented puzzle cubes. The main objective was to develop a packaging that would not only enhance the product's perceived value but also be unique and cost-effective. Inspired by the iconic shape of the Pisa tower, the V-Cube packaging stands out from the competition and offers a visually captivating experience.

The V-Cube packaging is truly one-of-a-kind, setting it apart from other puzzle cube packaging designs. Its patented shape allows the cubes to be visible from all sides, creating an interesting and unique pattern when stacked. This distinctive feature not only showcases the beauty of the cubes but also adds an element of intrigue for potential buyers.

One of the key strengths of the V-Cube packaging is its versatility. It is designed to accommodate various V-Cube products, including V-Cube2, V-Cube3, V-Cube4, and V-Cube Collections. Each collection, such as Gems of Design, Art Emotions, Nature & Wildlife, and Greek Memories, is beautifully presented in the V-Cube packaging, further enhancing the overall experience.

The realization of the V-Cube packaging involved meticulous research and development. Matadog Design extensively studied the existing puzzle cube market, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of competitor packaging. The chosen packaging design emerged from a series of brainstorming sessions and idea generation methods. Countless sketches were made, leading to the final concept that was approved for further development.

Prototypes were created to evaluate the feasibility of manufacturing the packaging with the available materials. Through this process, the optimal construction was achieved by fusing two different materials: paperboard and PET. This unusual combination resulted in a functional and visually appealing packaging solution.

The V-Cube packaging stands at dimensions of 13cm x 6cm x 12cm and consists of two parts: paperboard and PET. Its unique shape not only showcases the cubes but also serves as a stand for the cube after opening. Inside the box, consumers will find a leaflet with company information, warnings, and puzzle cube solutions for V-Cube.

The V-Cube packaging project was initiated in September 2014 in Athens, Greece, and was completed in January 2015. Despite facing numerous challenges, such as budget limitations, tight deadlines, and the need for a new unique packaging structure, Matadog Design successfully delivered an exceptional packaging design that exceeded expectations.

The V-Cube packaging has received international recognition and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. The V-Cube packaging exemplifies the fusion of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to an improved quality of life for puzzle enthusiasts worldwide.
